Is there any evidence that hormonal contraceptives can cause PCOS?

Answer:
No. The hormones in the pill, and the hormones that cause the problems relating to PCOS are different. The pill contains a form of progesterone and estrogen. PCOS is caused by eggs not fully maturing, and thus not being released. The hormones involved with egg maturation and release are follicle stimulating hormone and lutenizing hormone.
