Is the ortha evera patch really bad for you?

i heard that you could die from the patch?
Answer:
It can be. All hormonal birth control methods increase your risk of blood clots. Blood clots in the brain cause strokes, in the lungs--pulmonary embolisms, and in the legs--deep-vain trhombosis. Any of these things left untreated can lead to death. However, the patch has a 6 times higher occurence of blood clots than the pill--which already puts women at an increased risk of blood clots. Though the patch is on the market, I would be extremely leary of using it myself but it is a personal decision. If you are using any hormonal birth control method, take extra precautions with blood clots.
-Don't use hormonal methods if you are going to be in bed or inactive for a long period after a surgery or illness.
-Keep active, walk daily, especially if you are at a desk all day.
-Take the pill as directed, don't go crazy and triple doses if you miss two days!
-Don't smoke. Smokers have less blodd circulation which increases their risk for a clot.
-Look out for classic markers of a blood clot in different locations--sharp pain when breathing, a sharp pain in the calf or thigh(usually the latter), or numbness/weakness on one side of the body. See a doctor immediately if you have any of these symptoms, early treatment is key!
blood clots and stroke are side effects of all birth control options.
All types of birth control carry a risk of blood clots, stroke, and heart attack. However, it has been shown that the patch increases these risks even more than the pill does. I don't know why it is; I just know what I have read and heard from my doctor.

No matter what type of BC you are on, be sure to not smoke. The risk goes up even higher with that.
yes it is definitely true! they've done a lot of research and studies on the patch and it can lead to blood clots and more. When i was on the patch i had numerous times when i had chest pains. And im a 21 year old healthy female who has never had them before. You're best bet if you are looking for birth control is the pill or the shot
Didn't they just take that off the market because it was killing so many women? Of course it's bad for you. All synthetic birth control is bad for you.
